LAFAYETTE Elizabeth Nell Wilson Gilbreath, 73, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012. She was born to the late Gordon and Katherine Wilson, on November 4, 1938. She was of the Church of God of Prophecy faith, the proud co-owner/operator of the Jewelry Chest in LaFayette for more than 27 years. Elizabeth worked most of her life in the retail business. She loved people. She always wanted to make everyone feel good. If you were having a bad day my mother would have you feeling better before you left. She had a heart of gold and everyone loved her and she loved everyone back. My mother loved children especially my Nathanial. She worshipped the ground he walked on. She would not have lived this long in this much pain if it had not been for him. Her love for children was the reason she was a substitute teacher for so many years. To this day, adults would come into the store and say, "Do you remember me in school" and she would always say yes. Mother never forgot anyone's face or the piece of jewelry she sold them. She loved her jewelry and she loved selling it. Thank you to all her loyal customers and friends that kept coming back. She will miss the selling and especially talking to each and every one of you. She loved to talk. She never met a stranger. My mother is in a better place and she is probably talking to someone on how to look better. She loved to give advice when needed. She will thoroughly be missed by her family, but most of all, by her daughter. I got the pleasure to work alongside of her for the past sixteen years. And remember, "If you don't know Jewelry, know your Jeweler." She was preceded in death by her Sister, Wanda Wilhelm; and Brother, Wayne Wilson. Survivors include her Daughter and Son-in-law, Laurie and Avery Linam, of Trion; two Sons and Daughter-in-law, Joseph Gilbreath, of LaFayette, Richard and Grace Gilbreath, of Calhoun; ex-Husband, Joe "Dick " Gilbreath Jr., of LaFayette; two Grandchildren, Jade Wilkins and Nathanial Linam; Great Granddaughter, Wren Isabella Wilkins; three Step Grandsons; David, Daniel and Hib Albritton. The family will receive friends after Noon Monday, June 25, with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. in the LaFayette Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes with Pastor Philip Williams and Doug Williams officiating. A private interment will follow in LaFayette Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association. I would like to thank my mom's caretakers, Willene, Jean, Toni, Kelly and Nichole. They loved my mom as if she was their own mother. Without them, I could not have kept on working in the store. I would like to thank Dr. Duhon for being there through it all. He was always there for my mom and she thought very highly of him. I would like to thank Doug Williams of the LaFayette Radio Station. Without him, mom would not have been able to make her Jewelry Chest radio commercials. He would come to her bedside every week. He is a Saint, friend and part of our family. I would like to thank Lebron of Creative Image. Mother loved to get her hair done and he would come to the house and cut and style her hair. It was hard since she was bedridden but he never complained. I would like to thank North GA Home Health (Amedisys) for taking care of my mother and just loving her. I would like to thank Countryside (Sol Amor) Hospice. Even though it was for a short time, I found an Angel there and his name was Brian. Thank you Brian of Hospice for really caring. If we had more Angel's like you, being sick would not be so bad. Thank you Ross Vecchio for being such a good friend. If I have forgotten anyone I am sorry. This has been very hard for me. Thanks to everybody who has stuck it out for the past three years. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Homes - LaFayette Chapel. Online guestbook available at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com
