Alan Kent Artress, of Collegedale, died peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, after a short illness.Alan was born March 22, 1957 in Greenville, S.C. to Hazel and Val Artress, both of whom preceded him in death.Alan was a devoted father of Robert "Robbie" Alan Artress, beloved brother of Elaine and Larry Eastburn, Patrice and Herb Higgins, Pancha Schrestha and "Uncle Buck" to Stephen Eastburn, Emily Eastburn and Kelly Eastburn Bryant.He was a special friend to many including his work family.Alan was a lifelong member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and loved the Good News Gospel, which he often said had been taught to him by his dad.He earned a B.S. in Psychology from Southern Adventist University in 1982, and a M.S in School Psychology from UTC in 1990. For the past 12 years he was an educational trainer for KeyTrain/Thinking Media, and director of customer service. He was passionate about his job, and made many friends in his travels around the country conducting KeyTrain training. Alan loved to golf, just like his dad, play racquet ball and especially enjoyed the spring break trips snow skiing in Colorado with his son. He was also an avid Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves fan.
