LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN Mary Gladys Moore, 96, of the Hinkle Community, entered into Heaven's gates on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012.Gladys was a hard-working, Godly woman who led many to Christ during her life-long service at Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church. She was also famous for baking thousands of wonderful coconut or caramel cakes that blessed so many Lookout Mountain tables! Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ralph Moore; her daughter, Gloria Joan Moore; parents, Annie and John Hixon; and siblings, Geraldine Britt, Cora O'Brien, Ruth Moore, Nola Green and Roy Hixon.;Survivors include her daughter, Mary Katherine Shugart; grandson, Shawn Moore; great-grandson, Jason Moore; many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Payne's Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Moore will lie-in-state at the church from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Payne's Chapel Cemetery Fund, a fund that Gladys managed for many decades.
