Thomas "Burr" Maynor, 84, of Red Bank, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, in a Chattanooga hospital.Tom was a 1947 graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School where he was a multiple sports star. Tom was a member of the 1947 Soddy-Daisy State Championship Basketball Team and was chosen Most Valuable Player. Tom was inducted into the Soddy-Daisy High School Hall of Fame and Chattanooga Old Timers Club Hall of Fame. He played semi-pro basketball for Peerless Woolen Mills and was an avid Vols fan, especially Pat Summits Lady Vols. Tom retired from EPB with 38 years of service.He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.Survivors include his childhood sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Jo E. Maynor; three daughters, Susie (James) Burns, of Southaven, Miss., Cindy (Mark) Austin, of Hixson and Jill Wallace, of Soddy-Daisy; son, Mark (Cheri) Maynor, of Soddy-Daisy; Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren to whom he was known as Pap-paw; brother, Paul (Bettye) Maynor, of Pikeville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. today in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bert Jones officiating.Nephews will serve as pallbearers.Visit to share condolences.Visitation is 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. today at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, 423-877-3524.
