GRANDVIEW Troy Leo Pilgrim Sr., 90, of entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at the Spring City Care Center. We are saddened by the loss of his daily presence in our lives and we were truly blessed for the time we had with him. His spirit will remain with us always. Born in Arley, Ala., Troy was the son of the late John and Bertha Lawrence Pilgrim. The family moved to Miami in 1925. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Army Air Force stationed in Carlsbad, N.M. and in the South Pacific. After being discharged in 1945, he went to work for General Mills and retired from McArthur Dairy in 1980. He lived in Miami Lakes, Florida; then moved to Grandview; TN after his retirement. Troy served as a Deacon at Grandview Baptist Church, Past President of the Grandview Community Center and served as a commissioner for the Grandview Water District. He was a Charter Member of the Grandview Twirlers Square Dance Club and a member of the VFW Post #471 in Miami.Troy was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and granddaughter Gina Marie Pilgrim. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 70 years Doris B Pilgrim, of Grandview; sons Troy (Helen) Pilgrim Jr., of Miami, Fla., and Patrick (Penny) Pilgrim, of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters Inez Lewis, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Betty Hewett, of Grandridge, Fla.; three grandchildren, Duane (Nona) Pilgrim, Ryan (Roxanne) Pilgrim and Tanya (Jason) Loseke; and eight great grandchildren.Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. at the Grandview Baptist Church with Pastor Herman Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Reed Cemetery on Alloway Road with Military Honors. The family will receive friends today, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City.
