Jr.George "Sonny" Ransom Jr., 68, departed this world on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012.He was a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his parents, Linnie and George Ransom Sr.; siblings, Willie James and Charlie Lee Ransom, Christine Ellison and Kathleen Bennett; nephew, Joseph Ellison; and niece Tamatha King.Survivors include his siblings, Rebecca Miree, Ottie Mae Bailey, Ernestine Lewis, Gloria Allen (Donald) Strickland, Donna Ransom, Angela Gates and Fred Ransom; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, in the chapel with the Rev. Ternae Jordan officiating. Interment in Highland Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 78 p.m. this evening at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
