Gary Lee Brown, 52, known as Downtown Brown departed us on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at 6:40 a.m.Mr. Brown attended Riverside High from 1976 to 1978. From there he joined the United States Army from 1978 1984. From there he worked for Wheland Foundry until 1998; afterwards he went to work for Chattanooga Choo Choo from 1999 to 2010.Survivors include his father, James Brown Jr.; and mother, Shirley Brown Mathis Hill; brothers, Gregory Brown, James Brown III; sisters, LaBridget Brown Moore, Sharon Mathis Fortson, Sonia Mathis Holloway, Deborah Brown Matthews; three aunts, Doris Brown, Gladys Brown, Jackie Brown; five uncles, Charles Brown, Orlandus Brown, Clifford Brown, Eugene Brown and Robert Brown; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 in chapel with Minister Gregory L. Brown officiating. Interment in National Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon Thursday and the family will receive friends from 67 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
