LaFAYETTE Ruby Grace Vaught Yancy, 86, passed quietly into her Savior's arms on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012. Born in Dekalb County, Ala., she was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga, LaFayette area. Ruby was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of LaFayette. She was formerly employed by Downtown General Hospital but preferred her role as homemaker. Her greatest joy in life came from being a wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Ruby was a selfless, gentle, loving and caring lady. Devoted to her family, it was often said she was the glue that kept the family together.Ruby is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edward Dean Yancy. Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Edwin T. and Pamela G. Yancy, of Rock Spring, Ga.; daughter, Paulette G. Reynolds, of Ringgold, Ga.; four grandchildren, Russell Reynolds, Julie Reynolds Bell, Nick Yancy and Stephanie Yancy Powell, six great grandchildren, and countless devoted family members and loving friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Todd Gaddis officiating. Ruby will be laid to rest next to her devoted husband at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today and Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday until funeral time at the funeral home. Her family would like to extend its deepest appreciation to the NHC of Ft. Oglethorpe staff for all their loving care, compassion and support during Ruby's residency and recent illness. Also many thanks to Dr. Phillip Newton for always being on call for Ruby's healthcare needs. A special thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga and many thanks to our new friends and extended family, Kerri Harris, Carroll Sorrell and Tonita Jenkins for embracing Ruby and the family as they pampered us all in the last days.
