RINGGOLD Frederick "Fred" Lee Gates, 48, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012.He was born in Chicago, Ill. on June 1, 1964. He was of the Christian faith, enjoyed coaching softball and was an avid University of Tennessee Volunteers fan. He was preceded in death by his Father, Claude Gates and Sister, Patty Scholtz.Survivors include his loving wife, Kim Gates; daughter, Brittany Gates; mother, Mary Gates, all of Ringgold; sisters, Carolyn Wallin, Janice Gates; brothers, George and Junior Gates; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 4 - 8 p.m. today and Monday, Sept. 17, from noon - 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Gardens Cemetery in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Homes - LaFayette Chapel.
