, Sr. CHICKAMAUGA Walter Clayton Holcomb, Sr., 74, died on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. He was the son of the late Clyde and Margaret Thomas Holcombe. He was a member of St. Francis DeSalles Catholic Church and St. Gerard Catholic Church. Walter was a member of the North Georgians Right to Life, a member of the NRA and retired from Wheeland Foundry in 2002. Walter's greatest joy in life was his family. He was preceded in death by two sons, Christopher and Vincent Holcomb; and two sisters, Dot Williams and Kathy Marie Holcombe.Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Anita Gotautis Holcomb; children, Annastasia (Joe) Hanna, Chickamauga, Desiree (Garry) Burnett, Ashville, N.C., Marcelene May, Ringgold, Walter Clayton (Angie) Holcomb, Jr., Fort Oglethorpe, Thomas Holcomb, Fort Oglethorpe, Jeffrey (Lynette) Holcomb, Ringgold, Kelly (Rebecca) Holcomb, Ringgold and Spencer (Brandy) Holcomb, Chickamauga; 28 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Mike (Reba) Holcombe, Ringgold and Peyton (Melissa) Holcombe, Ringgold; sister, Billie (Joyce) Woodell, Ringgold; several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at St. Gerard's Catholic Church with Father Liam Coyne officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Memorial Gardens.
