Willie H. "Billy" Lewis, 84, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at a local hospital.Willie was born in Decatur, Ala., to the late Damon Lewis and Velma Lewis Young. He was married to Thelma who preceded him in death and he was of the Baptist faith in the U.S. military Willie served in two branches Navy and the Marines. After many years of service Willie retired from Chattanooga Transfer and Storage.Willie leaves to cherish his memories sister, Ophelia Johnson, of Chattanooga, nieces, Cheryl Lewis, Kathy Stewart, Karen Lingo. Jay Johnson; nephew, Calvin Davis; stepson, Fredrick (Minnie) McClendon, of Chattanooga; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and many, many friends.Family will receive friends 7 p.m. today at the chapel.Funeral will be noon Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the Trammell Chapel of Hardwick and Sons Funeral Home, 913 East M.L. King Blvd. with Rev Randy Petersen officiating.Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at National Cemetery.
