, Jr.RISINGFAWN Owen "Slue" Woodyard, Jr., 82, died Monday afternoon, Sept. 24, 2012. He was a journeyman machinist and was employed by Combustion Engineering and retired from Astec Industries of Chattanooga, Tenn. He was a member of Trenton Masonic Lodge #179 F&AM and the American Legion. He was a veteran of WWII serving as sergeant in the US Army in Europe. He was a founding member of the South Dade Fire Department and served for over 30 years and 20 of them as Chief. He was of the Baptist faith.He was preceded in death by his parents Owen and Sallie Wright Woodyard, Sr.; four brothers Charles, Lawrence, Frank Woodyard, and Buck Walls; and one sister Peggy Born.Surviving include his wife of 58 years JoAnn Steele Woodyard, of Rising Fawn, Ga.; daughter Judith (Steve) Paynter, of Dalton, Ga.; one son Roger (Gloria) Woodyard, of Rising Fawn, Ga.; grandchildren Laura (Andrew) Hill of Newton, Mass., Jordan (Emma) Paynter, of Augusta, Ga., and Emily Paynter, of Dalton, Ga.; also several nieces and nephews.Visit www.RyanFuneralHome.net to share memories and condolences.Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m. in the chapel with Rev.
