CHICKAMAUGA William "Bill" Otto Sartain, 82, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, from injuries sustained in a car accident.He was born in LaFayette, Ga., to the late Virgil Elder and Lucy Hughes Sartain. He was a decendant of an old Walker County family, being the grand nephew of James A. Sartain who wrote the History of Walker County. He served his country in the U.S. Army where he was a Military Policeman. During his service time he was stationed in Germany where he met his beloved wife "Hedi". After serving in the U.S. Army, he was employed by DuPont of Chattanooga where he retired after many years of service. He was of the Christian faith in the Methodist tradition. He enjoyed stamp collecting, reading, gardening and working on his farm.Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, J.D. Sartain; sisters, Leota Mae, Mildred Carter and Jean Williams.He is survived by his wife, Hedwig "Hedi" Mararinna Holzschuh Sartain, of Chickamauga, Ga.; brother, Paul Sartain, of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Monika Brown, of Lawton, Okla. and many cousins.The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today and Thursday morning prior to the service.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 in the chapel.Online register book at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park, Rossville.Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Homes - Chickamauga Chapel.
