Floria RobertsFloria Maxine Roberts, 73, passed away on Sept. 26, 2012 at her home.She was born Feb. 2, 1939 in Wildwood, Ga.She graduated from Tennessee A&I State University "TSU" in 1959.Maxine became the first African-American female elementary school teacher in Dade County. She taught in the Hooker community and Dade County School System for more than 34 years. Her most cherished title of all was that of "Christian." At an early age she accepted CHRIST JESUS as her Lord and Savior. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lorene Suttles Roberts; and her two brothers, Marion Kenneth and Levi Roberts.Survivors include two nieces, Leslie Roberts of Chattanooga, and Rhonda Roberts, of Pensacola, Fla.; two nephews, Anthony Godwin and Keenan Roberts, also of Pensacola; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Roberts of Pensacola, and Minnie Sue Roberts, of Chattanooga; special cousins, Sue Evelyn Partridge, Thomas C. and Bobbie Paris; special friends, Doris A. Chubb and Imogene Chubb.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in the chapel with the Rev. Larry M. Owens officiating. Interment in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.The family will received friends from 3-5 p.m. today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
