James Norwood


ROSSVILLE James Verlon Norwood, 87, died Sunday evening, April 7, 2013.He retired from Crane and Company and General Tire Co. of Chattanooga. Mr. Norwood was a veteran of WWII serving in Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received the Middle Eastern Service Medal with 3 bronze stars, Bronze Star Medal, and WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of Cloud Springs Baptist Church and attended Battlefield Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe.Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Agnes Norwood, of Rossville; daughters, Vicki (Michael) Patrick, of South Pittsburg, Tenn., Susan (Les) Bommer, of Rossville, Staci (Shayne) Lankford, of Rossville; sons, Larry (Rose Ann) Norwood, of Gallatin, Tenn., David (Linda) Norwood, of Red Bank; also several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday April 11, 2013 in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe with Rev. James Langston officiating.Family will receive friends noon until 9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday until service time at Wilson Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
