Robert Wert


CROSSVILLE Robert John Wert died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at his home in Crossville. He was 89.Born in Newton, Iowa, he was a veteran of WWII, having served with the USMC in the Pacific. He worked for 30 years with DuPont as a research engineer and was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He was an Elder at Red Bank Presbyterian Church until his retirement and move to Crossville where he was an active member at the Fairfield Glade UMC.Mr. Wert was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Wert; and daughter, Linda Bryant.He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorene; son-in-law, Mitchell (and Kitty) Bryant; daughter, Debby (and Al) Wilson; and son, Billy (and Debbie) Wert; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fairfield Glade UMC in Crossville, with services immediately following at 11 a.m.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America Cherokee Area Council, Hospice of Cumberland County, Fairfield Glade UMC Library, or Calvary Presbyterian of Big Lick, Tenn.Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, Crossville, Tenn., is in charge of arrangements.
