James E. "Jim" Tallent, 68, of Birchwood, passed away On Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, in a local hospital.He was a member of Frawley Baptist Church and was a Central High School alumni where he enjoyed volunteering and was active in the forgotten child fund upon his retirement. Jim was a loving, kind and gentle man and was a hard worker. He began work at a early age helping in his families business "Tallent @ Sons". In later years he worked at Herb Adcox, Mr. Transmission and retired after 27 years with the Chattanooga Fire Dept-Resource. His passion was with anything to do with cars. He began at a young age racing go carts and In his 20s drag racing his beloved car "Bewitch" or roundtrack racing. His passion in later years was traveling or attending car shows in his 1939 Chevy. Jim was a big BAMA fan.Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Mary Tallent, William and Minnie Trower; half sister Johnnie Trower; half brother Dole Career; and father, Bowman Tallent.Survivors include his loving wife of of 40 years Clistis" Tootie" Tallent; his mother, Aliene Tallent; one son, J. Eric Tallent and friend, Stephanie Maddex, of LaFayette; one daughter, Christie (Ron) Bronson, of Harrison; brothers, Larry Tallent, of Ringgold and Phil (Annette) Tallent, of Charlotte; half sister, Jean (Tommy) Fulmer, of Red Bank; grandchildren, Alicia and Philip Bonnington, Destiny Bronson and Kelia Smith.Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at the funeral home chapel with the Rev.
