Ira Mae Lewis, 93, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 in a local health care facility. She was a faithful member of Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a Mother of the Church. Ira worked as a domestic worker for a while until she decided to follow her true calling of care taking for infants and toddlers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Lewis.Survivors include her daughter Earnestine Patterson, of Chattanooga; three sisters, Margret Jasper, Louise Jasper, and Beatrice Boone all of Huntsville, Ala.; one grandson, Anthony D. Fielder (Michelle), of Somerset, N.J.; 2 great-grandchildren, Demetrius Samuel, of Dayton, Oh., and Adia M. Fielder, of Somerset, N.J.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. The body will lie-in-state today after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday Aug. 20 at Noon in the chapel with Pastor Stephen Gilchrist as the eulogist.Burial: Greenwood Cemetery.
