, DDSDr. Harry E. Mackler, DDS, 97 of Chattanooga, and former resident of Boca Woods Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla., died on Monday, Aug. 26 2013.Dr. Mackler was born on May 22, 1916 in New York City, NY to David and Eva Mackler. After graduating from Dental School at New York University, he served in World War II as a Captain stationed in the Pacific. After his discharge he married Myra Sally Hammer. The two remained happily married until her passing in April of 2013.Dr. Mackler was known as an enthusiastic, honest and kind person to all that met him. As a yearly world traveler, he and his wife entertained all around them with stories of adventure. What they emphasized most of all, however, was the importance of commitment to ones spouse and family. In this way, Dr. Mackler lived every moment of his life.Dr. Mackler is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Donald F. Mackler and Judy Mackler; his grandchildren, James Mackler and Shana Goldstein Mackler, Jason Mackler, Josh Mackler and Jenny Dressel Mackler and Jacob Mackler; his great-grandchildren, Hannah and Sylvie Mackler; and his niece, Judy Jacobson.A graveside service will be held at noon today, Aug. 29, 2013, at the Mizpah Congregation Cemetery in Chattanooga.Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort to the family.Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
