Chester William Smith, 75, of Soddy-Daisy, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013.Chester grew up in Soddy-Daisy where he played basketball at Soddy-Daisy High School. He attended Tennessee Weselyn College and later graduated from MTSU with a degree in Communications. He began his career in advertising in Chattanooga at WDOD and later at WTVC, Channel 9. He later worked at John Michael Enterprises where he retired.He loved his family and friends and UT Football only when they won. He was an avid sports fan and loved basketball and football. He loved his dogs, Nicole, Phoebe and Little Bit and was always rescuing any stray. He never met a stranger and was always ready to entertain and BBQ with friends.He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Oldham "Gertie" Smith; his mother and father, Gertie L. Stewart Smith and Charlie W. Smith, of Soddy-Daisy.He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl S. (Randy) Buckles, Debbie S. (Ronnie) Matthew; grandchildren, Chelsea Penney and Robbie Matthew; brother, Cecil Smith; sisters, Brenda Smith and Wanda (Clyde) Skiles; numerous nieces and nephews.Celebration of Life services will be at noon Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Everett Gossett and Rev.
