Sharlotte B. Polk, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in a local hospital.She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Ollie Primitive Baptist Church, where her father Rev. Charles Boone Sr. was her original pastor. She was a 57 year member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., and a member of the Democratic Women, National Education Association, Tennessee Education Association, Chattanooga Education Association, 100 Black Women, Knoxville College National Alumni Association, Eastside Reunion (founding member), and many other organizations.She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady P. Polk; parents, the Rev. Charles Boone Sr. and Lola H. Boone; siblings, Inez B. Lowery and Charles Boone Jr. Survivors include her son, Lt. Col Kendal V. (Monika) Polk, of Dale City, Va.; daughter, Kessala Polk-Dorsey and grandson, Zalen Dorsey, of Chattanooga; brother, Matthew Boone, of San Jose, Calif.; sisters, Jessie McEwen and Hazel Carloss, both of Chattanooga; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; other relatives; students and friends. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel with Pastor Owen Smith as the eulogist.Burial: 11:30 a.m. Monday at in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
