Ernest Joel Haynes, 66, of Hixson, was called to join heavens choir on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2012.A native of Tracy City, Tenn., he was a son of the late Vesta and Howard Haynes.Mr. Haynes is survived by his wife of six years, Mary Adams Haynes, with whom the great times and wonderful hours spent together will be missed.He was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church.Ernest had been a gospel singer since the age of 17. He was a founding member of the Haynes Brothers Quartet and sang with many known quartets throughout the United States. He sang last with the Good News Quartet.His main goal in life was making everyone happy and sharing the love of God.Additionally he is survived by children, Steve (Angie) Haynes, of Flintstone, Ga., Edward Haynes, of East Ridge, Melissa (Bobby) Vines, of Flintstone; step-children, Gayla (Wally) Guerard, of Georgia, Dewayne Sitz, of Alabama, Darla (Bob) Carroll, of Hixson, Deddy (Keith) Owensby, of Hixson, Kenny Adams, of California; brothers, Rev. David (Rhonda) Haynes, of Evensville, Tenn., Leland Haynes, of Dayton, Tenn.; sister, Marie (David) Winton, of Chattanooga; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and one special mans best friend, Jax, who was always looking out for him.A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. EST on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Odell Broadway officiating.The family will receive friends for visitation from 3-8 p.m. today and from 5 p.m. on Friday until the hour of the service at the funeral home.A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper, Tenn.Arrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Home & Cremation Services; 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343. 423-531-3975.
