CLEVELAND James R. Hensley, 97, formerly of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013.He was a retired Church of God minister, and a member of the North Cleveland Church of God.He was preceded in death by his parents, G.W. Hensley and Amanda Hensley Williamson; wife, Viola Gann Hensley; infant son, Charles Edward Hensley; brother, Franklin and Hilman Hensley; sisters, Mae Hixson, Rosie Harden and Ester Lee Stokes; and great granddaughter Jaime Gilliam.Mr. Hensley is survived by sons, Lonnie (Glenna) Hensley, of Ooltewah, and Dwight (Bertie) Hensley, of Newport, Tenn.; daughters, Polly (Lewis) Gilliam, of Spring City, Tenn., Lucille (Alfred) Morisett of Jefferson City, Tenn., Connie (Joe) Fowler of Newport, Tenn.; brother, Lloye Hensley; sisters, Hannah Bettis, Jean Potts, Faith Gilliam and Vanette Caldwell; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Mitch Maloney and Rev. Marshall Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in Grasshopper Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.His family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today, Jan. 11, and from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, prior to the service at the funeral home.We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Hensley family guestbook at fikefh.com.
