RINGGOLD Oscar Joseph Tipton Jr., 86, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013.He was born to the late Oscar J. and Cora Hall Tipton in DeKalb County, Ala. on Dec. 1, 1926. Oscar retired from Rossville Yarn, was a 20 year member of Joyful Sound Church, a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and participated in the moving of the John Ross House in Rossville, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Ott Tipton; children, J.M. Ott and Marie Walker; two brothers; and one sister.Survivors include his children, Carolyn (Larry) Blake, Evelyn (Jack) Young, Mary (Lonnie) Walker, Alice (James) Barker, Henry and Kenneth Ott; brother, Johnny Tipton; grandchildren, Donnie (Wendy) Eaton, Angel Blake, Barbara Holloway, Larry Ott, Marsha Phillips, Deborah Hale, Teresa Zendejas, Tammy Quinn, Lamar and Kenneth Walker, Joel Barker, Kenneth Ott Jr., Renee McDaniel, Donna Weaver, Brenda Hale, Sandy Elliott, Justin and Wendy Ott; and several great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. -9 p.m. today and prior to the service Saturday at noon in the funeral home chapel.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Wilson Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.Online guestbook available at are by W.L.
