FORT OGLETHORPE Gladys Myrl Hulgan Harris, 88, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, in a local hospital.Mrs. Harris was a native and longtime resident of Valley Head, Ala., and had lived in Fort Oglethorpe since 1982. She retired from American Lava following 30 years of service and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Mrs. Harris loved to travel and enjoyed her time with Keenagers at First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe.She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Mitchell Hulgan and Thomas Andrew Harris; and several brothers and sisters.Survivors include her daughters, Trecia (Roy) Thompson, of Fort Oglethorpe and Kathy Mayes, of Rossville; brother, Cecil Otto, Valley Head, Ala.; grandchildren, Payton and Jeff Mayes; great-granddaughters, Jadyn and Zoe Mayes; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Joel Jenkins and Rev. Kenneth Brown Sr., officiating.Burial will follow in Head Springs Cemetery, Valley Head, Ala.To share expressions of sympathy, visit lane-southcrestchapel .com.The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. Sunday until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
