Eleanor McGlathery Sudderth, 98, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013.Ms. Sudderth was born in Birmingham Ala. She graduated from Birmingham Southern College and William and Mary College of Social Work. She taught in the Chattanooga Public Schools and was a case worker with Family and Childrens Services. She was a member of the First-Centenary Methodist Church and past president of the Little Miss Mag Nursery.Ms. Sudderth was the daughter of the late Preston O. and Martelia O. McGlathery and she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Sudderth; and her sister, Dorothy Louise Godwin.Ms. Sudderth is survived by her sons, Robert J. (Kate Adams) Sudderth Jr. and William P. (Brenda) Sudderth; nieces, Eleanor (Tom) Gunter and Dale (Tom) Schneider; grandchildren, Robert P. (Molly) Sudderth, Nelson Campbell, Eleanor (Matt) Shallbetter; stepgrandchildren, Eric (Amanda) Niel, Lance Niel and Kristin Niel; and three great-grandchildren, Rhys Shallbetter, Kes Shallbetter and Cade Niel.Memorial contributions may be made to the Alter Guild of the First-Centenary Methodist Church, 419 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37402. The family would like to thank the staff at Manorhouse Assisted Living for their care and attention.Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
