Phillip "Phil" Farmer, 61, of East Ridge, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.Phil was a veteran of the United States Army and had worked at Covenant Transport for many years.His father, Doug Farmer; mother, Ruby Mae Farmer; and brothers, Robert L. Kidwell and Jerry G. Kidwell, preceded him in death.Phil is survived by his wife, Brenda Farmer; son, Phillip David Farmer II, of East Ridge; stepdaughters, Katinka (David) Boyd, of Harrison, Kerrie Davis, of Ooltewah, Kelli (Ron) Vail, of Georgetown, Tenn.; brothers, Ron (Carol) Kidwell of Charlotte, N.C., Don R. Kidwell of Atlanta, Ralph (Renee) Kidwell, of Port Charlotte, Fla. and Roger (Shirley) Farmer, of Summerville, GA; and sisters, Sheila (Marvin) Spurlin, of Rock Spring, Ga., and Patricia (Jerry) Mobley, of Lincoln, Ala.Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30pm Thursday, January 31, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Lindon officiating. Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.Pallbearers will be David Puryear, David Boyd, Ron Vail, Andrew Womble, Alec Newby and Jeremy Mashburn.The family will receive friends for visitation from 2- 4 p.m. and 6- 8 p.m. today, Jan. 30, at the funeral home.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Chattanooga Oncology & Hematology Associates, Memorial Hospital Infusion Center and Hospice of Chattanooga for their special kindness during Phil's battle with lung cancer.
