Louise "Lou" Hamilton Crayton Carter, 70, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013.She was the daughter of the late Julian and Johny Crayton. Lou was a teacher in Walker and Gwinnett Counties for numerous years. She enjoyed volunteering with the Red Cross and was a ham radio operator.She is survived by her husband, Peyton Carter; sons, Crayton Carter and Lea Carter, all of Chattanooga; sister, Nan (Bill) Gray, of Columbia, S.C.; brothers-in-law, Hon. Bill (Wiki) Carter, Jack (Betty) Carter; and several nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd, 211 Franklin Road, Lookout Mountain, Tenn., at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 29, with the Rev. Robert Childers officiating.Interment will follow in the churchs Harriet Caldwell Memorial Garden.The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. today at the funeral home and on Monday in the churchs Talbird Hall one hour prior to the service.Memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross of Southeast Tennessee, 801 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403 or at www.redcross.org.Share your memories at wannfuneralhome.com.Arrangements are by Wann Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at the foot of historic Lookout Mountain, St. Elmo, 821-7551.
