Edith Easley


ROSSVILLE Edith Henry Easley, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday July 27, 2013. She was born on Dec. 25, 1919 in Tecumseh, Okla., to the late James Cephas Harris and Flossie Mae Harris Bivins.She had worked for Neiman Marcus Company in Dallas, TX and retired from Fischer Evans in Chattanooga. She was a member of the Eastern Star while living in Lonoke, Arkansas and a member of the St. Gerard Catholic Church in Fort Oglethorpe. She was a beloved mother and grandmother and was the Matriarch of the family as well as our spiritual leader. Her passions in life were cooking, bible study, and her gardening clubs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Eugene Dalton Henry, Sr. and husband of 5 years, Roy Easley; brother, Earl Harris; sister, Bettye Bivins; grandson, Phillip Cahill, Jr.; son-in-law, Bill Cahill; and brother-in-law, Tom Feeney.Survivors include her daughter, Karen Henry Cahill; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene Dalton Henry, Jr. and Josie Henry; brother, Johnnie (Lupe) Bivins; sisters, Ruby Lee Feeney and Lynda (Jim) Stubblefield; grandchildren, Stephen Patrick (Terrie) Cahill, Jonathan David Cahill Henry, Luke Henry, Emily Henry, Stacie (Greg) Bowles, and Josie Henry; six step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; many step-great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.Donations may be made to the Home Bound Ministries of St. Gerard Catholic Church or to Hospice of Chattanooga.The family would like to thank all of the dedicated Hospice workers for their loving care for Edith and also the Home Bound Ministry of St. Gerard Catholic Church for their spiritual care and friendship.Funeral services will be held Thursday Aug. 1, at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Gerard Catholic Church with Father Bill Williams officiating.Interment will follow in the Chattanooga Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m.The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Church.Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
