Lexie Opal Hill Tinker, of Ooltewah, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, in a local hospital.She was born March 31, 1933, in New England Ga. to parents Marvin F. Hill and Ola Kenimer Hill. She was the youngest of three sisters and one brother. Opal was president of the 1951 graduating class of Kirkman Vocational High School in Chattanooga and was the reunion coordinator for graduating classes of 1940 through 1953. She trained in Office Occupations and was an officer in the Trades and Industrial Club. She began her career from 1950-1956 for Blue Cross as a supervisor in billing, public relations and correspondence for large and small businesses. She then worked as a bookkeeper from 1962-67 for Tri-County Hospital, and 1969-70 bookkeeper at Parkridge Hospital. She was office manager for Chattanoogas first Porsche-Audi dealer (Hailey) from 1970-1972. Opal then became longtime general manager of the Quality Shopper publication owned by lifelong friends John and Betty Felts and daughter, Cheri. Opal was a dedicated tireless worker who worked up until the last few weeks as she was able. She was always caring for others and would give selflessly of herself when needed. She was of the Baptist faith, loved her family unconditionally and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.She was predeceased by her parents, Marvin Franklin and Lexxie Kenimer Hill; sister, Beatrice Lewis; and brother, Hoyt H. Hill.She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Archie Tinker whom she married on Oct. 27, 1951. She is also survived by sons, Arch Ronald Tinker and wife, Vanessa, of Chattanooga, Dennis Brian Tinker and wife, Lori, of Cleveland; granddaughter, Heather Tinker Mastin, of Ooltewah; grandson, Travis Tinker and wife, Julie, of Cleveland; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Mastin, Chloe Mastin, Trevor Mastin and Elijah Tinker. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn McArthur, of Chattanooga; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at Memorial Hospital, Tennessee Oncology and Hospice of Chattanooga for their compassion and care during her illness.Visitation will be at Silverdale Baptist Church from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The Rev.
