Morris "Oogie" Thomas Smith, 65, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 in a local hospital.He was a veteran of the United States Army and was formerly employed by Top Flight. He was a coach for the Brainerd Bills.Survivors include his devoted wife of 44 years, Jeanetta G. Smith; sons, Damon (Paula) Smith and Demetric T. Smith; grandchildren, Kamaya Smith, Brianna Smith, Amaya Quinn and Jakayla Smith; mother, Bertha Smith, all of Chattanooga; brothers, Raymond (Beverly) Smith, of Huntsville, Ala., Norman Smith, of Chattanooga, and Calvin (Dornita) Smith, of Norfolk, Va.; sisters, Gloria (Larry) Robinson, of Chattanooga and Victoria Bond, of Jacksonville, Fla.; uncles, Howard (Betty) Palmer and George (Dot) Palmer, both of Chattanooga; devoted sisters-in-law, Lisa (Dave) Smith and Carolyn Barnes, all of Chattanooga; devoted brothers-in-law, Morris and Maurice Greer, both of Bowie, Md.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; other relatives and friends.Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.Funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Calvin Smith as the eulogist.Burial: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
