Perry Robert Pollard, 67, of Athens, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 7, 2013.Perry was a member of Brainerd Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga. He was an avid athlete and scholar at Brainerd High School, was Mr. Brainerd High, was honored with the FCA award, "Mr. Baseball", "Mr. Basketball" as well as many academic honors and graduated in 1964. He went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee and then Auburn University for graduate school. He worked for many years at Moccasin Bend Pine Breeze as an instructor and youth counselor until retiring. He later resided in Cleveland, Tenn., to care for his mother until her death. Perry was known for his big heart, his ability to make others laugh and smile, and was loved by many. Perry will be greatly missed by all.Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Neal and Maxine Pollard.Survivors include sisters, Cherie Kretzer, Pam Mendows; nieces, Ashley Wallace, Rachel Loback, Rebeka Ackson; nephews, Adam Kretzer, Mike Wallace; many special cousins and friends, and his beloved Life Care Family.A Celebration of Life was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 11, at the Life Care Center of Athens.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Life Care Center of Athens in memory of Perry Pollard.
