Alberta Hughes, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013, at her residence.She was born June 11, 1921 in Huntsville, Ala. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Antioch P.B. Church and remained a faithful member for over 50 years until her health failed. She served as a member of the Usher Board. She was also employed for many years at S&W Cafeteria. She worked faithfully with the Easter Seal and was awarded a plaque for raising the most money for the Tennessee Area.She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester V. Robinson and Arlean Robinson (Pastor Shelby) Moore; husband, Hozie Hughes Sr.; daughter, Minnie Pearl Hughes; sons, Baby Hughes and Hozie Hughes Jr.; sister, Pearleaner (Lenvel) Phelps.She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Elsie I. Love, of Tony, Ala., Lynda (James) Toles, of Chicago, Ill., Bertha Hughes, of Atlanta, Arlean (Elder Melvin) Goree, and Niota (Roger) Robinson; son, Carl L. Hughes, all of Chattanooga; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.The body will lie-in-state today after at Taylor Funeral Home.Funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Antioch P.B. Church with Elder James Leslie as the eulogist.Burial: Forest Hills Cemetery.
