Lewis Marlin Weeks, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, peacefully in his sleep, at Life Care Center of Red Bank, after a long battle with Parkinsons disease.Lewis was born in Sulligent, Ala., on May 13, 1936. He was married to Sandra Martin Hale on Dec. 31, 1981.Lewis attended Tyner High School and then joined the Air Force where he honed his technical skills keeping those big C-130s in the air. Lewis attended Georgia State University after serving his country. He then took a job with Freiden Calculators in Atlanta, which became Singer Corp., which became TRW Corp.He retired from TRW Corp. after 27 years and then was employed with Hospital Corp. of America in Nashville. He took his permanent retirement from HCA in 1997.He enjoyed working with his hands, even built a vacation home on Lake Lanier, and building and flying radio controlled airplanes with his sons. Boating and RVing were favorite past times, too.Lewis is survived by his wife, Sandra Martin Weeks; his sons, Martin S. Hale, Lewis F. Weeks, Stephen D. (Julia) Weeks; daughters, Mary Bethany Hale and Gayle Weeks (Steve) Burrough; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his brother, Jim (Alicia) Weeks; his sister, Sandra (Colvin) Carter; his brother-in-law, Hubert (Diana) Martin; sister-in-law, Gladys (Bill) Edwards; his many nieces, nephews and the rest of his family and friends.Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Durant and Lula Weeks, as well as his brother, Junior Weeks.Visitations will be held from noon to 1:45 p.m. and from 3 to 5 p.m. today, Oct. 18, 2013, at Advantage Funeral Home, 1724 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga.Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave.The memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today at Anglican Church of the Redeemer, 1815 McCallie Ave., with Father Brice Ullman officiating.
