Percy Charles Smith went to heaven at 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 while sleeping peacefully at home with his family present; he was 90 years old. Percy was born Oct. 22, 1922 in Bluefield W. Percy joined the US Navy immediately after the Pearl Harbor attack and served until the end of the war, seeing service in the Aleutian Islands on a PT boat and in the Okinawa invasion. During their marriage they raised four sons and settled at the Flibeta Boat Club on Chickamauga Lake in Soddy Daisy. With the help of their four boys, they built two houses at the club and have lived happily there for over 40 years. Percy leaves a family legacy of love and devotion through his wife Sylvia; his four sons and their wives, Kirk and Beth, Glenn and Kay, Dean and Joan, and Gary and Trina; his grandchildren, Clay, Kristen, Angela, Alan, Aaron, Alden, Chad, Ryan, Lauren, Jessica, Adam, Hannah; as well as great grandchildren.
