Katherine Estes Hixon, 84, Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. She was born in Chattanooga on Nov. 4, 1930, to Hal and Georgia Estes. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Robert "Bobby" Hixon and her parents. She was a housewife for many years before starting a career in retail at Lovemans Department Stores. The last part of her career was as a buyer of stationery, greeting cards and all things Christmas. Katherine always had a keen eye for products that people wanted. She left Lovemans to assist in care for Bobby when he was diagnosed with cancer. They were able to spend his remaining time together traveling and enjoying family. She was always at his side, including his last hospital stay of almost three months. Katherine resided in the Ormond Beach, Fla., area for the past five years. She will be missed by her son, David (Sheila) Hixon; daughter, Cathy (Paul) Bruning; sisters, Barbara (Eugene) Richardson, Jenny (Jim) Clements; and brother, Jerry (Linda) Estes as well as her sisters-in-law, Elsa Bell and Mary Joyce (Charles) Oliver; and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
