Kelly L. Allmon, 84, passed away at his Hixson home on Tuesday, April 23, 2014. Kelly graduated from Soddy-Daisy High School and attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Allmon retired from Allmon Trucking. He was a member of the John Henry Pierce Lodge, the Alhambra Shrine, and his beloved Red Fez Club. He was also a charter member of the OPossum Creek Shrine Club. Mr. Allmon loved being a Shriner. He drove crippled and burned children to hospitals for treatment, with over 100,000 safe miles, before stopping. Survivors include his wife of 50 plus years, Betty Evans Allmon; sons, Mitchell (Mary) and Michael Todd (Donna); grandchildren, Mitch and Melissa; and three great-granddaughters. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-8 p.m. today and from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
