Esther Poi

Esther Poi, 88, of Chattanooga passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, in a local health care center. Born June 3, 1925, Mrs. Poi was a Tennessean who married and moved to New York City always carrying a love of the green hills and natural beauty of Tennessee along with fond memories of New York City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chang Poi; sister, Bonnie Lee; brother, Hershel Greene; and parents, Oma and Albert Greene. Those left to cherish her memory include daughter, Lupina (Jim) Haney; son, Dean (Sandy) Poi; grandsons, Jonathan Poi, Chang Webb, Shan (Emily) Webb; great-granddaughter, Kate Webb; sisters, Frances Black, Kathleen Chang, Faye (Cameron) Sprowles; brother, Claude (Wanda) Greene along with several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Pettengill and Pastor Thomas McGuirt officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or The Tennessee River Gorge Trust. Visit to share words of comfort to the family.
