Richard Ray Peck, 85, currently of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and B.L. Peck; three brothers; and four sisters. Richard was an innovator in the Pulp and Paper industry as a chemist. He was also a man who could do or fix anything and was an extraordinary problem solver. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Sarah, of 61 years, as well as a devoted father and grandfather. Richard and Sarahs secret to a long marriage was always putting the other first. He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah; two sons, Stephen Richard Peck, and his wife, Carol, and Douglas Edward Peck, and his wife, Elaine; daughter, Karen Peck Tyson, and her husband, Jeff; four grandchildren, Daniel, David, Benjamin, and Nicholas; and a great-granddaughter, Caprica. A funeral service was at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave. Burial followed at Raleigh Memorial Park.
