Robert Weir

Robert Carl "Bob" Weir, 60, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. He is survived by his mother, Alta Jean Green Weir; his sister and brother-in-law, Susan Weir Chaffin and Jeff Chaffin; two nieces, Bethany Chaffin and Amanda Carleo Chaffin; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Colville Conner Weir; and his grandparents, William O. and Edith Sparks Green and Professor Wilford and Susan Paine Weir; and uncles Wilford Weir and Paul Green, along with several great-aunts and uncles. Bobby was born in Dayton, Tenn., and moved with the family to Chattanooga in childhood. He graduated from Chattanooga High School and is a member of Burks United Methodist Church in Hixson. Bobby was an avid sports fan who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. The family would like to thank Bobs devoted team of doctors, the nursing staff at Soddy-Daisy Healthcare Center, and Hospice of Chattanooga for the excellent care they provided through this difficult time. The family also requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bobs honor to either Hospice of Chattanooga or the American Cancer Society. Donations can be made on both websites, at www.hospiceofchattanooga.org and cancer.org. Rev. Amy Nutt of Burks United Methodist Church will be presiding. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Jan. 21, at the North Chapel. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
