Jesse Douglas Bain, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014. "J.D." Bain was the son of the late J.S. Bain and Gladys LaFevers, and a loving husband of his late wife, Doris June Autry Bain. Jesse was born in Sparta, Tenn. He joined the U.S. Navy as a seaman apprentice, on the USS Hornet (CVA 12), earning a National Defense Service Medal and Navy Occupational Ribbon. Jesse was a member of Woodstock Park Lodge #313 F&AM, Jacksonville Consistory, A.A. Scottish Rite and Morocco Temple, A.A.O.N.M. Shrine. He married Doris June Autry, whom he loved with all his heart. Jesse is survived by his two sons, Stephen (Carmen) Autry and Greg Bain; daughters, Gina (Jake) Yoder, Karen (Buddy) Reeves, and Robin (Mike) Purcell; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Jean Morbito and Betty June Helton; and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be in First Calvary Baptist Church, Chattanooga, from 11-2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23.
