Terrance Swafford

Terrance "Tank" Leroy Swafford, 49, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Saturday, March 22, 2014. He was the son of Jimmy and Louise Swafford, who preceded him death. Tank was an Army brat who traveled extensively and loved different cultures. He played football for the Kentucky Wildcats in college and was an avid Vols fan. He loved fishing, Nascar, singing, playing the drums and guitar and traveling with his dance family. He was a Church of Christ member and loved listening to his gospel music. He was an iron worker and welder for most of his life. There are no words to describe Tanks big heart and enormous personality. There were no strangers in life, only potential friends. He loved spending time with his family and always did his best to protect them all his life. He could laugh at himself and have fun wherever he was. Tank was the life of the party. Tank was someone who didn't hesitate to feed a homeless person or help an elderly person carry their groceries in the rain. Even after his stroke, he watched out for his nieces and nephews via Facebook, he was so proud of them. His adored his little grandson, Gavin, making up a special song for him they sang together. He was extremely close to his brothers "Jo-Jo", Scottie, Rich and "Boo Boo". Tank is an organ donor and it was his wish to donate his corneas in honor of his mother to give someone the gift of sight. He leaves behind to grieve him: beloved wife, Tonga Blair Swafford; stepdaughter, Melissa (Andrew) Hall; daughter, Andrea Cosby; grandson, Gavin Hall, granddaughters, Chloe and Carrington Frady; brothers, James (Heather) Swafford, Vincent (Lawanda) Swafford and Scottie (Terry) Swafford; honorary brother and best friend, Rich Owens; nieces, Callie Swafford, Spenser Swafford, RaShaunda Swafford, Gabriel Swafford, Kiersten Swafford and Cameren Swafford; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Please join us in celebrating his life from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Taylor Funeral home for visitation and the service to follow at 6 p.m.
