Harry Liao

Hsiang Lung "Harry" Liao, 80, of Hixson, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014, at Erlanger Health System, Chattanooga. Harry Liao was born on Jan. 6, 1934, in Foochow, China, a son of the late Rev. Kuo-Yin Liao and Chung-Fen Chang. He escaped unbearable oppressions with great courage and determination in early 1960s. He earned a master degree in electrical engineering from UT, Knoxville. Harry was a senior electrical engineer retired from TVA. He kept himself busy after retirement as an active volunteer for Life Line of North Park Memorial Hospital. Harry was a Christian and made significant contributions to rebuild his hometowns churches in China. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Drs Hsiang-Hua and Hsiang-Peng Liao. Survivors: brother, Hsiang-Yeng Liao; and two sisters, Hsiang-Jen and Hsiang-Bing Liao; and loving friend, Patience May. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
