Joe Lanham

Joe Howard Lanham, 86, of Chattanooga, now in the presence of the Lord, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014. He was born on November 30, 1927 in Nashville, Tenn. to the late Levi and Katherine Holt Lanham. Joe graduated from Central High School and served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He and his late wife, Sue, accepted the Lord as young adults and lead a very faithful Christian Life. At the time of Sue's death in 2011, they had been married for 62 years. Joe was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon for several years. He was also a member of the Gideon's International , Chattanooga East Camp, serving in various leadership positions. Joe loved to paint, listen to music and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Lanham and five siblings. Survivors include his son, Joe H. (Sharon) Lanham Jr; grandchildren, Katherine "Katie" Elizabeth (Kevin) O'Brien and Christopher "Chris" Lanham; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors and the Rev. Tim Tinsley officiating.
