Desmond "Des" Cox, 94, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday May 25, 2014. He was retired from South Central Bell with 35 years of service. Des was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church for many years. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of American Legion Post #14. Des was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Barbara; and his father, Roy C. Cox; mother, Fannie Cox; and brother, Buddy Cox. Survivors: one daughter, Beverly Jean (Bill) Gilmore, Chattanooga; one son, Wayne D. (Terri) Cox, Chattanooga; grandson, Zach Gilmore, Chattanooga. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, with Pastor Patrick McKenna officiating.
