Scarlette Tipton, 73, of Ooltewah, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was a native of Ripley, Tenn., and had lived in the Chattanooga area for 27 years where she attended St. Martins Episcopal Church. Before moving to Chattanooga, Scarlette worked for the Germantown Library. After moving to Chattanooga she worked as a librarian for the Chattanooga Library retiring in 2008 with 20 years of service. Her passions in life were her family, reading, enjoying the outdoors, flower gardening and cooking for family events. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Henry Tipton; two daughters, Michelle Laughter, of Nesbit, Miss., and Christine (Greg) Archey, of Harrison; brother, Ron (Judy) Sandlin, of Bartlett, Tenn.; sister, Barbara Spain, of Dyersburg, Tenn.; two grandsons, Dustin and Dalton Laughter; two stepgrandchildren, Chad and Samantha Archey; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Ayden Hays, Braxton Archey and Jase Hays; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Friday at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
