Having an office off Broad - the smell is very overwhelming.
If it's yellow DON'T let it mellow!
When the stench reaches a point where it overpowers the northern part of downtown, which it frequently does, that is not from the pipes in the ground. It is coming directly from the entire operation at the sewage treatment plant that wafts across the TN River into downtown and North Shore. The last two times we took in a Lookouts game, we just about choked. Nothing like eating a hot dog, drinking a beer, surrounded by the smell of excrement.
Downtown Chattanooga does smell terrible. It is quite shocking that little is being done about it. Time to join the 20th century...let alone the 21st!
Wow! A writer from New York. Obviously he always wears his city-issued nose plugs when he's in the big apple. Talk about stench and that city immediately comes to mind. It isn't simply an olfactory insult. It is a dirty, filthy place. From my home in New Hampshire to my mother's home in the Chattanooga area can be a nice journey if you avoid New York City. I drive hundreds of miles out of my way coming south simply to avoid New York. That writer needs to look close to home for a place to criticize.
ARTYFROSTY, seriously? You're really taking this personally? I grew up near NYC and it does NOT smell as bad as Chattanooga does every morning. It's just a matter of fact. It's too bad you drive hundreds of miles out of your way and miss the greatest city in the US just to come here to enjoy Chattanooga's stench. It's just too bad.
I've been to New York. It STINKS. New Jersey is worse.
