if this concert had been held at the mckenzie arena and this violence erupted after the concert would the city be trying to shut that down as well? i guess the point i'm trying to make is this, you have bad people in this city that perpetrate violence on one another and it can happen anytime, anywhere. the pastor of this outreach ministry has good intentions and his efforts to reach kids that would otherwise not be exposed to the word should be commended not condemned.
Um they do have concerts like this at mckenzie arena... Lil wayne played there... And no violence erupted... And taxes were collected. Strange huh?
Oh most defintely need to be shut down. It was an officer there and this still happened. These teens dont care nothing about authority figures. They dont know how to act. I think if they want to shoot at something the next war send them before you send the troops. Draft there little behinds into the military and see how real it gets for them. Wanna be thugs....
No violence erupts at events at McKenzie Arena because they have professional event managers and proper security.
Good intentions or not, poor management is the root of many of these problems.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. ...which basically sums up the management of Club Fathom since 2006
Are you sure the "Pastor" is a REAL Pastor? Or just someone who up and decided to call himself "Pastor" with no Bibical training or studying and NO seminary education involved, I'm sure....or got that "divinity" degree online.
CLOSE THAT PLACE SO DECENT PEOPLE CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT FIGHTING AND GUNSHOTS SPEARDING TO SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS!
melis4le is somewhat right in that it could happen anywhere and anytime...but on the flip side of that it does have alot to do with keeping things organized and managed correctly. I do think the teens need a place to go, but when the teens act the way the do sometimes its hard to push through that and give them a place.
Everybody keeps saying these "teens" need a place to go..why? I know exactly where my 15 year old should be at midnight on Christmas Eve...HOME WITH ME!! If these young ADULTS need somewhere to go to get away from bad home situations then they need to seek help from Family and Children's Services. If they are too old for foster care then they need to take responsibility for themselves and get out of the thug life. This supposed pastor doesn't understand that giving a bunch of thugs a club to hang out in is not CHRIST-LIKE! If he was trying to save alcoholics from themselves I don't think he would be setting up a bar to do that...or maybe he would!
I will agree with the folks saying that better security might help, but to close down the whole venue would not be fair. podiebell no teen would willingly go to children services. People do realize that there is two venue's right? The warehouse side never has any problems. and by forcing him to close one he would lose a lot of money and have to close the other. The warehouse is the only place a lot of us have to go, and when i say that i mean it has changed a lot of teens lives. A lot of people get the message of god who otherwise wouldn't. A few of my friends have become believers through one side of the venue. In case people didn't know warehouse venue plays rock music while fathom plays rap. Both are attempts to reach out to different genres of music. Is that such a bad thing? Finally i would like to say that before anyone judges this place because they don't agree with the music ask the people who go there how they feel about it.
Closing a business will not stop people from acting out. This stems from today's society feeling as if the rules do not apply to them and is further substantiated by leadership who continually exhibits this same lack of responsibility for their own behavior.
StrongClosing this venue will not solve the gang violence in chattanooga! Closing it will not just punish the teens from these "teen parties" but will also punish those who use this venue for thier shows responsibly!!Strong These "teen parties" are a real problem they allow large numbers of teens to gather together and be unsupervised. These parties usually are shows for hip hop/rap acts that draw a large gang crowd. I dont really like to generalize but whenever there is a hip hop/rap show here in chattanooga there is almost always some sort of violence that accures, gang related or not. Punishing this venue for the gang violence that accured outside in the parking lot to me is really unfair. I think that the ones that are really at fault are the gangs in town and these "teen parties" that have little to no security!!! If these "teen parties" are banned from this venue and only the shows that have had no violence involving guns, knives, or weapon of any kind (I say that just because no matter the venue or show there is always a chance for a fist fight) are alowed to continue to use the venue i think that there will no longer be problems at this venue!
