Probably missing from this poll are those who don't know where their next paycheck is coming from, much less afford the luxury of a computer and internet.

Many are understandably frustrated/exasperated at what's going on in our government today, but their angst should be focused at the source of the problem..WASHINGTON and the current administration. How sad that we have folks who think their camping out in downtown Chattanooga will really address any of these issues; their demands? how about ALLOWING them to live in Iraq or Iran or ANYWHERE in the Middle East for a few months; lets see how their protests are received. I have family members who have died in the defense of our freedoms, died so that idiots like this bunch can demand their 'rights' and feed this entitlement mentality. God help our country.

Jopeck- the first major action that Occupy Chattanooga did was Thursday across from Bank of America because of the Fleishmann's fundraiser...so you cannot say we have not paid attention to Washington...The problem is that we need to wake up where we live...and until we do that all the yelling at Washington is not going to do a bit of good.

If these people would do something more constructive with their time other then lying around our city and making a mockery of us to visitor's and residents alike, our society would be greatly imporved. Go volunteer to help the Salvation Army. Volunteer at the Homeless shelter. Volunteer at the hospitals. Be productive, versus so distructive. There was a time in this country when we looked at the successful people and said, what did he or she do to be successful and I will work hard and apply myself to be successful as well. Now, we have people so hooked on entitlements, that they ask why don't they give me some of what they have accomplished. They need to focus on "Going Green". Recycle the people in government every election. Vote against the incumbent no matter the party for they are all self serving. Our fore fathers never envisioned professional politicians, but people willing to serve their country for a term and move on. Occupy Wall Street is nothing more then a leftist, socialist group like the unions saying we are for the people. Hog wash. They are for themselves and the leaders want to line their pockets at the expense of others.

Unbelievable...if what you say is true, "Occupy Wall Street is nothing more then a leftist, socialist group", then please explain to me why at the general assemblies there are Republicans, Independants, Ron Paul supporters and local business professionals including attorneys, professors from Christian colleges and financially stable retirees?

Unbelieveable:What you are calling Entitlements is what we have paid our tax money on...it is something we have earned...not something we are entitled to.And I am more a Moderate... Come to one of the meetings and find out what we have done and what we have done...I think you be pleasantly surprised.

Just a bunch of well intentioned, but misinformed puppets doing the grunt work for the puppet masters ... SEIU/George Soros/etc.

They will, unfortunately continue this nonsense until they get someone killed ... then, it will be the fault of the Police or Military man who pulled the trigger. I've seen all of this crap before back in the summer of 1968 in Chicago ... people protested .. were ignored for the most part .. escalated to violence in order to be recognized .. cops were injured .. hippies died & disappeared .. NOTHING was solved .. a very few of them went on to become politicians and executives of the very "system" they condemned.

Can we all remember our reaction to 9/11?? We were attacked from the OUTSIDE, and we rose to the challenge. We came together as Americans, we suffered together, we shared, we prayed, we resolved to MAKE IT... check out this video clip of a boat lift many may be unaware took place. One of many examples of courage and resolve that we need now more than ever. http://www.shoebat.com/videos/boatlift.htm (you can google search 9/11 boat lift and find this video)

For the difference is, TODAY we are being attacked from WITHIN. The agenda of many in power today is to divide and conquer, and we’re playing along. Likely, a number of OWS protestors may be sincere in believing this as a way to highlight their struggle. But in reality, they are pawns in a far more dangerous game. Lenin, hero to Marxists/Fascists and Communists alike, made some remarkably astute observations regarding the breeding and manipulation of ‘useful idiots’ for his purposes:

Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted. A lie told often enough becomes the truth. The government is tottering. We must deal it the death blow an any cost. To delay action is the same as death. Liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed. One man with a gun can control 100 without one. Fascism is capitalism in decay.

So I say to OWS, don’t fall into the trap of being used to destroy the fabric of a country that has allowed you the freedom to protest peaceably. Work within the framework of the law to precipitate change; register to vote. And then do it.

OWS and others are simply holding up a mirror most do not want to look into, as USA is not real great on reality. Some so poorly educated or filled with hate ()or perhaps envy for those with courage to protest) simply are not aware of respect that "standing on the green and protesting" is what upset the Brits and led to our nations birth. I will say some of OWS is a bit bizarre, some "professional protestors", others just kind of hanging out, but they have a Right to do such things. Does not take a lot of smarts to see USA is headed wrong way, and ALL politicians are to blame. Money rules, buys elected, makes their own self interest rules. Many of us saw impact of real demonstrations in 50-70's, when we had nation in horrible war, corruptions, Rights violated, the nation protested and was heard, war ended, Nixon tossed, Rights given. We lost that value, money found out how to divide us, pols push fear/panic/hate for their own careers. We are sadly encouraged not to vote for your candidate but against other one.

Shockingly, our most cherished right, voting itself, now under attack under guise of "illegal voters so we must protect you", proven to be more spin-myth then fact, yet like the Dr's dogs, many drool with joy at making voting tougher. Real Americans should insist voter places open Fri 6AM, stay open to Sun 6PM, so all can participate in our most basic freedom, but predictably will remain silent. Got a long way to go to take back nation for the people,if we even can do that, as money bought elected, whom it seems we now serve. Doubt this, read and wonder why, then look in mirror for culpert. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/29/opinion/blow-americas-exploding-pipe-dream.html?_r=1

Jopeck, what makes you so sure that we are not registered voters? What makes you think that we should not feel "entitled" to our rights to peaceably assemble and our rights to free speech? Are these somehow rights that you feel we have to earn or are you aware that these rights are given to each person who lives here?? I'm sorry that you don't agree with this but OWS will bring about change and do you know why? Because we are sick and tired of the way things are in this country. "We" means every American who can take a look around them and see that the way things currently are, is not what we want for our children. OWS Will bring change and I hope that you do some reading and join us. Oh and by the way, we are not a bunch of dirty Hippies. I for one, am a nurse, a mother, a wife and a voter in the great state of TN and if you think that our Governor isn't learning the hard way that you cannot strip people of their rights, I encourage you to go explain that to the courts that just ruled against him. OWS WILL OCCUPY CHATTANOOGA! Solidarity from Knoxville!

It seems that some of the protestors are just protesting and don't have a clue as to why. Are they creating a monster that we want in our country? Look at the mess these protestors have made in NYC, is this what we want for Chattanooga. Working downtown I know that I am not enjoying having to pass some of these people twice a day. Starting to look like Ron Littlefield's homeless facilities.

OWSKnoxville: 1) I apologize! Glad you're registered to vote!!

2) My family has 5 (YES FIVE) nurses in it and I KNOW they are without doubt, underpaid, overworked, and underappreciated.

3) Never said you weren't entitled to your rights to peaceably assembly or to free speech, did I?? Never claimed you had to earn them...what makes YOU think you're the only ones sick and tired of the way things are in this country?? We just disagree on the way to make the changes necessary.

4) ALSO never said you were a bunch of dirty hippies! HA! Hopefully you aren't like the ones we're seeing in NYC. Let me know, after this is over, what big change OWS has effected.

I still stand by what I said earlier...God help our country.

God needed to help our country prior to Occupy anything, that's why everybody is occupying.
Bad mouth a movement if you must, but do not take away anyone's right to protest peacefully. That could be the most unAmerican move you could ever make.
And when it comes down to it, I'd rather be a dirty hippy than a clean hypocrite.

If occupiers can keep the park CLEAN and they can give FULL RESPECT to Chattanooga's homeless, many of whom have been "occupying" for years and, unlike many of the protestors, have no home to go to when things get rough... then by all means, allow it. Freedom of assembly.

Do it anyways. If you get arrested fine. Maybe if we stick together and vote out all of these idiot city, state and federal officials we can get things done.
