Modern Greeks have two
passions: family and food.
Dining at The Acropolis offers the
best of these.Teddy Kyriakidis migrated to this country to pursue the American dream, leaving the problems in Greece in hopes of providing for his family that he left behind. He had no money, could not speak English and knew very little about the restaurant business. However, he knew how to work hard and he knew that his family was counting on him. So, after landing at Ellis Island, N.Y., he began working as a busboy in his uncle’s restaurant. Not long after, he decided that he should buy his fi rst restaurant. The rest is history.
Teddy and Betty Kyriakidis have been a part of Chattanooga’s family for almost 30 years now, sharing their lives and food with countless guests. Sixty years and several successful restaurants later, Teddy Kyriakidis is still pursuing that American dream and encouraging his children to teach their children to appreciate all the opportunities that this country has to offer.
At The Acropolis, located at 2213 Hamilton Place Blvd., guests become a part of the family. In fact, the Kyriakidis family said that no matter what time a customer visits, they are bound to run into at least one Kyriakidis family member. Some people have said that the Kyriakidis family is as important to Chattanooga’s history as the Choo Choo itself. For generations, they have been making food and fun times that guests will remember forever. The Acropolis is not simply a meal, but a dining experience. Specializing in Greek, Italian, American and seafood, there is always something new and tasty at The Acropolis, not to mention their award-winning desserts.
